"Pollution Poses Problem for Oysters, Puget Sound"


"For over 75 years, Blau Oyster Co. has relied on Washington state's cool clean waters to grow the plump oysters that are as prized in the Northwest as salmon and orcas. But too much pollution from animal and human waste has been washing into Samish Bay in north Puget Sound, prohibiting shellfish harvests 38 days already this year."

International Conference on Environmental Pollution and Remediation (ICEPR 2011)

ICEPR is a series of international conferences held yearly to address environmental pollution and new advances in remediation. These conferences focus on all aspects of Environmental Science, Engineering, and Technology. International ASET and the University of Ottawa will be hosting this conference.

New NOAA Fishery Advisers Appointed

Thirteen new members join the ranks; 8 others are reappointed. The shift in members provides an opportunity to explore what each Council has been doing, whether the new people will shift its direction (and NOAA's), and what the fishing industry, the public, and various interest groups think about past decisions and future directions.
