The Asia Society's annual "Oz Prize" of $10,000 is awarded to a reporter or team of reporters who has produced the best example of journalism about Asia during the calendar year. Evaluation criteria include impact of the work, its originality, creativity, depth of research and educational value in informing the public about Asia. Deadline: Mar 17, 2025.

The European Commission rewards outstanding reporting on sustainable development. 2024 entries should relate to topics of inequality, poverty eradication, sustainable development, environment, biodiversity, climate action and more. Cash prizes of €10,000 in each of three categories. Enter by Jun 30.

The Institute for Journalism & Natural Resources is accepting proposals until Feb 28, 2025 for grants to help defray the costs of reporting projects that focus on natural resources, the environment, energy, development, agriculture, environmental justice and public health. 

Metcalf Institute's 27th Annual Science Immersion Workshop for Journalists at the University of Rhode Island, June 8-13, 2025, is for full-time journalists to learn how food systems are being affected by global climate change, exploring traditional Western approaches and TEK and Indigenous food ways. Apply by Feb 14.

Apply by Apr 14 to be considered for HCN's Summer/Fall 2023 (Jul-Dec) internship. $1,210 biweekly stipend, plus $46.15 work-from-home allowance and more. Emerging journalists from BIPOC and LGBTQ+ communities are encouraged to apply.

NAHJ 2025 will take place in Chicago, Illinois, offering career development opportunities with leading Hispanic journalists and media professionals, and featuring workshops and panels that provide essential tools for career growth in a rapidly evolving industry.

The journal Science offers an 11-week, paid summer internship for undergraduate students who are interested in journalism as a career and who want to learn about science writing. The internship is intended to increase diversity among journalists who cover science. Deadline: Jan 10, 2025.

The Asian American Journalists Association is accepting nominations for the 2025 Journalism Excellence Awards until Feb 12.  Established in 1987, the awards recognize and encourage excellence among journalists and outstanding coverage of Asian American and Pacific Islander issues by AAJA members.

FIJ awards grants up to $10,000 for stories that break new ground and expose wrongdoing in the public and private sectors. Next deadline is May 5, 2025. Plus, seed grants (May 9), expedited grants for urgent stories, follow-up grants for timely stories after initial investigations and emergency grants for stories on threats to democracy in the U.S (rolling).

The NABJ will gather in Cleveland, Ohio, Aug 6-10, for the 2025 Annual Convention, a multiday event for journalism education, career development, networking and industry innovation.
