The Canada-U.S. Fulbright Program operates on the principle of reciprocal exchange and provides the opportunity for outstanding Canadian scholars to lecture and/or conduct research in the United States. Numerous awards are available for prominent and promising scholars, as well as experienced professionals. Deadline: Nov 15 annually.

This United Nations Development Programme contest provides young journalists in developing countries a unique opportunity to contribute to the global debate on climate change in the run-up to COP21, while building their capacity, and providing recognition for excellence. Winners will be funded to attend and cover COP21. Enter by Oct 11.

The European Commission rewards outstanding reporting on sustainable development. 2024 entries should relate to topics of inequality, poverty eradication, sustainable development, environment, biodiversity, climate action and more. Cash prizes of €10,000 in each of three categories. Enter by Jun 30.

The Institute for Journalism & Natural Resources is accepting proposals until Mar 15, 2024 for grants to help defray the costs of reporting projects that focus on natural resources, the environment, energy, development, agriculture, environmental justice and public health. Journalists of color and other underrepresented or minority journalists are strongly encouraged to apply.

The #hostwriterPrize for collaborative research is designed to award exemplary collaborative journalism.  One award is for a work already published and the other is for a brilliant pitch. Cash prizes. Apply by Oct 31, 2019.
