"WildEarth Guardians and Physicians for Social Responsibility are renewing calls for a federal judge to throw out oil and gas leases issued by the Bureau of Land Management under the Obama administration.
The groups urged Judge Rudolph Contreras of the U.S. District Court for the District of Columbia to vacate BLM's reapproval and issuance of 11 leases in Wyoming, Utah and Colorado and to toss the agency's environmental assessment of climate impacts from those approvals.
"We're asking him to vacate the leases because we feel BLM is stringing us along. They are continuing to do what they are not supposed to be doing," said Jeremy Nichols, director of the climate and energy program at WildEarth Guardians."
