"VINELAND, N.J. -- Following months of investigations and public hearings, the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency has proposed to add the former Kil-Tone Company grounds to its Superfund list of the most hazardous waste sites in the country.
The distinction could mean a greater chance at funding for long-term cleanup, EPA officials said in a news release.
'The EPA is committed to protecting residents and workers from the high levels of arsenic and lead at this site,' Judith A. Enck, EPA regional administrator, said. 'By adding this site to the Superfund list, the EPA moves forward in its commitment to do extensive sampling needed to determine the best way to clean up the contamination.'"
