"The political fight has begun over the Interior Department's proposal to relocate the Bureau of Land Management's headquarters to Grand Junction, Colo.
Sen. Cory Gardner (R-Colo.) and Rep. Scott Tipton (R-Colo.) labeled BLM's move of its Washington, D.C.-based headquarters to Grand Junction, on the state's Western Slope, as "historic" and benefiting the management of public lands and residents living in Western states. A key Democrat derided the decision, citing a lack of transparency in the planning process.
E&E News today first reported the BLM relocation, ahead of an announcement expected from the Interior Department tomorrow (Greenwire, July 15)."
