"Government Pushes To Depose Youth Plaintiffs In Climate Case"

"While most of the 21 youths suing the federal government in Eugene over climate change were on summer break, attorneys for the Trump administration worked at all levels of the federal judiciary to prevent the case from getting to trial this fall.

Now that those attempts have largely failed, government attorneys are working quickly to prepare for what the plaintiffs’ supporters have characterized as the “trial of the century.” The trial is scheduled to begin Oct. 29 in U.S. District Court in Eugene.

Attorneys for the government on Thursday told a magistrate judge that they intend to schedule depositions with all 21 youth plaintiffs in the next 10 weeks.

But it remains to be seen if that actually can happen."
