State of the Climate: Looking Back at 2023 and Ahead to 2024
From climate-fueled weather disasters to implementation of the Inflation Reduction Act in the U.S. and adoption of proven climate solutions across the globe, climate change has been in the headlines throughout 2023. Most sobering are warnings from the Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change (IPCC), the US National Climate Assessment, and other experts that the world needs to reduce greenhouse gas emissions dramatically if we are to avoid the worst impacts of climate change.
With this backdrop, Project Drawdown is doubling down on our efforts to accelerate adoption of proven climate solutions. Our Drawdown Roadmap, informed by our world-class science team, shows how humanity can stabilize and then reduce concentrations of greenhouse gases in the atmosphere in time to avoid climate catastrophe. The just-launched Capital Coalition is helping investors, philanthropists, and others maximize the impact of their climate action. And the rapidly expanding Drawdown’s Neighborhood documentary series is demonstrating the important role every person can play in solving climate change.
In this webinar, State of the Climate: Looking Back at 2023 and Ahead to 2024, Project Drawdown executive director Jonathan Foley will reflect on climate solutions action over the past year and share exciting plans for advancing climate action in 2024.
Whether you care because climate is your job or because Earth is your home, you’ll walk away with a better understanding of progress toward halting climate change to date and challenges and opportunities the new year brings.
