SEJ Webinar: Celebrating 35 Years of SEJ — What Comes Next?
Celebrating 35 Years of SEJ: What Comes Next?
Wednesday, February 12, 2025 | 1-2:15 p.m. ET
All journalists welcome!
In SEJ's 35 years, the need for quality, critical environmental journalism may be more urgent than ever before. Journalists and news organizations are confronting big questions about the future of our industry and how to ensure our reporting reaches the people who need it most. Sometimes it feels like our world’s future is at stake.
To explore these challenges in our quest for answers, we're kicking off our celebration of SEJ’s anniversary with a special double feature.
We'll start with a panel of longtime SEJ members who helped build the foundation of our organization to reflect on our mission and what makes SEJ the tight-knit community of journalists it is today. Then, we’ll hear from some of environmental journalism’s emerging leaders about where our field should go from here.
Emcees:
- Aparna Mukherjee, Executive Director, Society of Environmental Journalists
- Halle Parker, President, Society of Environmental Journalists; Reporter, WWNO Coastal Desk, Sea Change Podcast
Moderator:
- Bobby Magill, First Vice President and Governance Committee Chair, Society of Environmental Journalists; Reporter, Bloomberg Law
Speakers:
- Debra Krol, #SEJ2025 Co-Chair; Indigenous Affairs Reporter, The Arizona Republic
- Luis Joel Méndez González, Investigative Reporter, Centro de Periodismo Investigativo
- Lisa Song, Reporter, ProPublica
