Science Talk ’25
Join the Association of Science Communicators for SCIENCE TALK ’25, April 3-4, 2025 at McKimmon Center in Raleigh, NC… and virtually everywhere March 17-28!
Early-bird registration is OPEN NOW through the end of January! Here are some sneak peeks at the amazing program you’ll get to experience…There’s something for everyone!
Want to engage in robust conversation on health-related attitudes and behaviors? The editor and authors of Pandemic Resilience: Vaccination Resistance and Hesitance, Lessons from COVID-19 will join us for a facilitated panel discussion on the roots of, responses to, and remedies for vaccine reluctance and opposition. Audience members will be invited to share their experiences, perspectives, or research regarding attitudes and behaviors relevant to vaccination and other preventive health measures.
If you’re looking to brush up on your science writing skills, check out “The Art of Science Writing: A Hands-On Workshop” with Deborah Bright, Board Member of the San Diego Science Writers Association. In this highly interactive session, participants will practice and receive peer feedback on key skills including crafting effective pitches, source credibility, writing for multiple platforms, and more.
To learn about research supporting the use of improv and storytelling as SciComm tools, check out Brian Tibayan’s short talk “Science simplified: Improv and storytelling for accessible and meaningful communication.” He will address the need for communication training for early-career scientists using empathy-based improv and storytelling and discuss his research exploring how these tools enhance STEM students' communication in the Three Minute Thesis competition.
We’ll be continuing the tradition of holding an open mic rapid pitch session: an opportunity for everyone to get up on stage, share what SciComm they do, and make an ask or an offer for networking—all in less than a minute. And stay tuned for announcements about evening Science Week events in Raleigh.
We’re really looking forward to seeing you all in North Carolina and virtually for even more exciting sessions!
