One World Media's GSDF Labs for Filmmakers

GSDF Labs by One World Media will take place November 8-10, 2022, online and in specific locations (on day 2) around the world. The workshops feature experts and filmmakers sharing practical tips and insights on documentary storytelling, pitching, and solutions journalism. Events are free and open to all.

The Labs mark the Call for Applications for the Global Short Docs Forum taking place in March 2023. This year, the program is expanded with a focus on solutions reporting, and 50% of the Forum places will be dedicated to filmmakers working on stories of people responding to social problems.

GSDF connects filmmakers around the world with international media outlets looking for short docs. Selected from a global call, 16 filmmakers take part in an intensive 4-week training program of online workshops, mentoring, and one-to-one pitch meetings with decision makers. Alongside potential commissions and co-productions, three projects will be awarded grants up to £3,000 to contribute to their production or post-production. Deadline is Dec 13, 2022.

Attending the GSDF Labs is not a precondition to submitting a film to the GSDF, but the workshops are designed to help participants prepare stronger applications for the Forum, so we encourage anyone who's interested in applying to take part in the GSDF Labs.
