Alfred Friendly Press Partners has trained 340 journalists from 82 countries since 1984. The majority of these reporters, editors, and broadcasters continue to shape the global narrative, providing vital coverage of critical regions and fostering informed communities worldwide.

The fellowship is a four-week in-person program, in partnership with the Missouri School of Journalism, focused on foreign journalists who are living in exile in the US. The program builds skills and resiliency in these areas: Security, Legal, Journalism and Entrepreneurship. Beyond the training, our goal is to create community amongst a diverse group of journalists facing many similar obstacles. One topic – the psychosocial aspects of exile – is embedded throughout many of our conversations, beginning the first day.
