5th US-India Energy Partnership Summit
The Energy and Resources Institute North America (TERI NA) in association with Yale University will be organizing the 5th edition of the US-India Energy Partnership Summit, titled ‘Accelerating Resilient Growth and Development’ from September 30 to October 1, 2014, at the Washington Marriott Wardman Park, Washington DC.
Eminent participants who would lead the Summit deliberations would include Dr Ernest Moniz, United States Secretary of Energy, Mr Daniel Poneman, US Deputy Secretary of Energy, Mr Bruce Andrews, Deputy Secretary of Commerce, US Department of Commerce (TBC), Mr Amos Hochstein, Acting Special Envoy and Coordinator for International Energy Affairs, Bureau of Energy Resources, US Department of State, Ambassador Carlos Pascual, Former Special Envoy and Coordinator International Energy Affairs, and Dr Rajiv Shah, Administrator, USAID.
The Summit will begin with two thematic tracks on September 30 at 9:30 AM:
- Smart Solutions for Sustainable Cities in India (Smart Cities): Industry’s potential for Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s vision of 100 Smart Cities
- Institutional Investment in Renewable Energy: To explore greater avenues to finance renewable and clean energy projects
A High Level Corporate Dialogue will take place on September 30 at 11:45 AM. The speakers will include Dr R K Pachauri, President, TERI North America & Director General, TERI, Mr Ajit Gulabchand, Chairman & Managing Director, Hindustan Construction Company, Mr Zubin Irani, Senior Managing Director, United Technologies Corporation India, Mr Venkatesh Valluri, Chairman, India Region, Ingersoll Rand India, Mr Inderpreet Wadhwa, Founder & CEO, Azure Power, Dr Jennifer Holmgren, Chief Executive Officer, LanzaTech and Mr Eric Roston, Sustainability Editor, Bloomberg.
The inaugural session of the Summit will be held on October 1, at 9 AM. The speakers will include Dr R K Pachauri, President, TERI North America & Director-General, TERI, Dr Peter Salovey, President, Yale University and Mr Upendra Tripathy, Secretary, Ministry of New and Renewable Energy, Government of India (TBC).
The keynote address will be delivered by Dr Rajiv Shah, Administrator, USAID.
The following themes will be discussed on October 1, 2014:
- Clean Technologies for Decentralized Energy Access: 10 AM
- Energy and Climate Change: The Road Ahead for US-India Cooperation: 13:30 PM
- Sustainable Habitats: Increasing Energy Efficiency: 15:15 AM
The valedictory session will be held on October 1, at 16:45 PM. The valedictory address will be delivered by Dr Ernest Moniz, United States Secretary of Energy. The session will also mark the signing of a MoU – Cooperation on Enhancing Energy Efficiency in the Built Environment between TERI and UTC. Other speakers will include Dr R K Pachauri, President, TERI North America & Director General, TERI and Dr J Michael McQuade, Senior Vice President for Science & Technology, United Technologies Corporation. The concluding remarks will be delivered by Dr Annapurna Vancheswaran, Vice-President, TERI North America & Director, Sustainable Development Outreach, TERI.
